The council will collect bulky household waste
Flytipping is the illegal disposal of waste on Council property. The Council takes flytipping very seriously and offenders, if prosecuted, can be fined an unlimited amount and may even get up to five years in prison.
Instead of flytipping, you should use the Council's bulky collection service, where we will provide you with the day and date we will collect the bulky items for a fee of £15. Call 01204 336632 to request the service.
If you don't want to pay for our service you can also take bulky items to a Household Waste Recycling Centre for free. Click here to find your nearest Bring Site.
If you see any flytipped goods or anyone flytipping, please call our flytipping helpline on 01204 336632 and let us know where it is, what it is, and the date and time you saw the incident. You should also try to get a description of any vehicles involved, including the registration number if possible. You should never approach flytippers, you may be at risk if you do.
If you see flytipped goods:
- Do not touch the waste: flytipped waste can be dangerous - it may contain syringes, broken glass, asbestos, toxic chemicals or other harmful substances.
- Do not disturb the site: there may be evidence that could help identify the culprits and lead to their prosecution.
- Do try to visually inspect the waste: if possible, you should look to see what the waste consists of and how much is there.
- Do take note of its exact location: and whether it is near to or in water.
