Bulky White Goods collections
Last updated: 23rd November 2007
Bolton Council will no longer be collecting bulky white goods from the 26th November 2007
Bolton Council will stop taking orders for the collection of white goods on Friday the 23rd November due to the Waste Electronic & Electrical Equipment (WEEE ) directive. Bolton Community Transport and Furniture Services will be taking over this service from the Council and should be contacted directly. The WEEE directive dictates that electrical waste should be collected separately and disposed of differently to maximise recycling and prevent this type of product being put into landfill.
Unfortunately the increased costs and resources associated with this process has meant that the Council are unable to continue this service. Bolton Community Transport and Furniture Services will charge for this service but if residents wish to avoid a charge they can:-
- Take their items to their nearest Household Waste and Recycling Centre free of charge or,
- If they are purchasing a replacement item, such as a washing machine, speak to the supplier who may take away the old machine. This too is often free of charge.
Items they will remove are listed below:-
- Fridges
- Freezers
- Washing Machines
- Dryers
- Dishwashers
- Cookers (Electric and Gas)
- Microwaves
