Baby Clothing and Accessories
Good quality baby clothing is always in demand and so you may be able to sell it. You can also give it to charities or take to your local baby clinics or playgroups. You can also take them to your local Bring Site. Click here to find your nearest Bring Site.
Bags
When offered a carrier bag, think whether you really need it first. Re-use the stash of carrier bags you have at home. Take some with you when shopping or use to double wrap cooked kitchen waste before putting it into your grey bin. Buy a Bag for Life, available from most supermarkets. Most supermarkets collect old carrier bags for Recycling.
Bathroom furniture
If you can't resell it or give it away, you can take it to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre
Batteries
Use mains electricity where possible or rechargeable batteries. Car Batteries: Ask about exchange schemes when you buy a new one or take them to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre where they will be recycled. Household Batteries: Old Batteries can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Did you know that thanks to Sainsbury's it is now easier to recycle your household batteries? You can get a freepost envelope, free of charge, from the customer information at Sainsbury's in Bolton. This envelope can then sent to a battery recycling company.
Bedding
Your unwanted bedding will be welcome at local charity shops or animal shelters. You can also take them to one of our Bring Sites with a clothing bank. Click here for your nearest Bring Site.
Beds
If the bed is in good condition contact Bolton Community Transport on 01204 364777 or Emmaus on 01204 398056. They will collect it and give it a new home and a new lease of life. If the bed is not fit for re-use then you can take it to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre or use our bulky waste collection service by calling 01204 336632.
Bikes
Local shops that repair and service bikes may consider buying it. If not take it to a Charity Shop or your local Household Waste Recycling Centre and place it in the scrap metal bank.

Take to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre. Do not burn as glues are toxic.

Boilers
Scrap metal merchants will usually pay for old boilers.
Books

Boots
See shoes and boots or wellingtons
Bottles
Plastic bottles should be placed in your burgundy bin / green box for collection. Alternatively, you can take your plastic bottles to your nearest Bring Site. Glass bottles should be placed in your burgundy bin / green box for collection. Or you can take them to your local Bring Site and place them in the bottle banks. Blue bottles should go in the Green Bottle Bank.
Brake Fluid
Take to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre and put it in Waste Engine Oil container.
Bric-A-Brac
You can take this to your local Charity Shop or you can sell it at a car boot sale. Alternatively, you can take to your nearest Housedhold Waste Recycling Centre.
Brochures
You should put these into your beige bin / clear sack. Or you can take them to your nearest Bring Site and put into paper bank. Click here to see your nearest Bring Site.
Brushes
Brushes can be re-used by trimming the bristles of softened brushes with scissors. Worn out tooth brushes can be saved and used for intricate cleaning jobs.
Bubble wrap
You can re-use it to wrap items before sending them in the post or to transfer breakable items when moving house. You can also use it to wrap delicate plants in to protect them from frost. You could also give it to a neighbour to use or take to your Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Bulky Refuse
We can collect bulky refuse for you at a charge of £15. Click here for a list of what we can collect. Contact Access Bolton on Tel: 01204 336632 You can also take it to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre. As from the 1st of July 2007 we can no longer take electrical goods.
