We are changing the way we collect your rubbish

When is my rubbish and recycling collected?
Every year in December you should receive a new collections calendar and guide about recycling direct to your home. You can still find out when your bin collection day is by typing in your street name in the search facility (ignore words such as road or street i.e. just type 'Lower Leigh' to search for Lower Leigh Road) and the website will display your collection day. Your recycling is then collected on the same day but fortnightly. When you check your collection day it will also indicate your calendar week colour, either the blue or the yellow calendar. Once you know which you need then you can download and print off if required. This will then let you know when to put your recycling out for collection.

Recycling in Bolton - thanks for doing your bit
Did you know over six million trees were bought last Christmas in the UK, most of which were thrown out after December creating over 9,000 tonnes of additional rubbish - that's the equivalent weight of 15, 000 small cars! Let us collect your real Christmas tree for composting from Monday 5th January up to and including Friday 16th January.

With increasing pressure from central government to reduce the amount of waste produced, people need to think more about what is thrown away and what is produced in the first place. It is everyone's responsibility to help make Bolton cleaner and greener, and this can be achieved through recycling.

In Bolton we provide over 115,000 households with a kerbside collection of:

Beige bin / clear sack for the collection of:

  • paper
  • card
  • beverage cartons / tetra pak

Burgundy bin / green box for the collection of:

  • plastic bottles
  • glass bottles and jars
  • steel and aluminium cans/tins

Green bin (where available) for the collection of:

  • garden waste
